I have been asked more than once: What is your favorite food in Japan after more than 40 years in the country, and with a Japanese chef for a wife as well? The standard answer is always sushi (and sashimi), closely followed by the finest Japanese beef, namely wagyu—which, by the way, is not pronounced “vagyy” but “wagjuu”, where “wa” isn't “va” but w as in the English word “wow”.
The cool thing about all of this is that even the cheapest sushi is often quite decent. Japanese people are discerning folks, so even if it's cheap, it still has to taste good. Above, we have a sort of “standard sushi” that costs about six and a half USD for the whole platter. Nothing to complain about!
